Framingham firefighters from Engine 1 rescued a man from a home on Cornell Road Wednesday morning, said the Framingham Fire Chief.

Firefighters were called to 6 Cornell Road for a report of smoke just before 8 a.m

A neighbor had dialed 9-1-1 after seeing smoke coming from the Campanelli ranch style home.

When firefighters arrived they found the ranch home on fire and learned a man was trapped inside, in the back part of the house, said Framingham Fire chief Gary Daughtery.

Scanner reports had the man unconscious and suffering from smoke inhalation when rescued.

The man was taken to MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham, and later transported to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. His condition is unknown at this time. His name was not released.

It took firefighters about 15 minutes to control the house fire, said Daughtery

The Fire Chief said Framingham Fire Marshal Joseph Hicks was still investigating the cause of the fire.

Chief Daughtery said the home had about $100,000 worth of damage, and is uninhabitable at this time.
