Sept. 13–A fire inside a vacant building in the Auburn Gresham area sent a squatter to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation Friday evening.

The victim was not burned and was in good condition when taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital following the fire in the 8600 block of South May Street, said Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford.

Crews were called to the Red X building–a building that has been deemed to have serious structural or interior hazards that could pose a danger to firefighters–a little before 7:30 p.m., and the fire was under control by about 8 p.m.
