BURLINGTON, MA — Firefighters used a ladder truck to rescue three people from a three-alarm fire in a massive apartment complex just off the Middlesex Turnpike in Burlington Wednesday night, and one of those three people was hospitalized.
Firefighters were called to the Baron Park Apartments at 8 Baron Park Lane about 8:45 p.m., where they found residents trapped on the top floor of the three-story, multi-unit building.
Burlington Fire Chief Steven Yetman was very busy at the scene, but said firefighters rescued three residents from the third floor using a ladder truck.
One of those people was taken to Lahey Clinic with serious injuries, but Yetman did not have more information on that person’s condition. No firefighters had been hurt as of 10:30 p.m.
The blaze was knocked down by about 10:15 p.m., but crews were expected to remain on scene for hours overhauling the building and making sure any hot spots are out.
Firefighters from Chelmsford, Wilmington and Bedford were among those at the scene providing mutual aid.
The American Red Cross of Eastern Massachusetts was at the scene to help numerous displaced families, but the agency said it was still working to count exactly how many people needed help as of 11 p.m.
