Rescues in Charlotte
One person was taken to the hospital with serious injuries and several people had to be rescued after a fire at a high rise in Myers Park.
The fire started just before 7 p.m. at the Kimberlee high rise, a cooperative community with five floors.
The cause of the fire was still under investigation late Sunday. More details about the injured person were not immediately available. The victim was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with what firefighters said were nonlife-threatening injuries.
It took 55 firefighters 46 minutes to get the blaze under control. Firefighters said they had to rescue two people.
