BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – A woman and her pet dogs were rescued from a house fire in East Bakersfield early Monday morning.

At about 1:20 a.m. Kern County Sheriff’s deputies arrived first to a small home on the 2700 block of Monterey Street for multiple reports of a house fire.

Heavy smoke and flames engulfed the structure and deputies were unable to see inside the windows.

Loretta Pickett, the woman inside, was pulled out of the window. Her two other dogs were found unharmed

Pickett had minor injuries from smoke inhalation.

Kern County firefighters knocked down the fire in 25 minutes.
