A baby, who was left home alone, has been pulled from a house fire on Bay Street North.
Police says the 15-month-old was taken to McMaster Children’s Hospital for smoke inhalation.
Fire officials say a call came through just after noon from a neighbour who saw smoke and flames coming from the rear of the home at 283 Bay Street North.
Responders were told people might be inside.
Firefighters entered the building and found the baby. A police spokesperson said the baby boy was the only one home. The parents have been identified and are speaking with investigators. The baby’s condition is not known.
The flames have been contained and the smoke has cleared.
Firefighters are now doing an overhaul of the building, including ripping off the roof.
Public information officer Claudio Mostacci says that it is too early to asses the damage to the property.
