Rescues in Colorado Springs
#CSFD UPDATE – Structure Fire on 2770 E. Uintah at the Devonshire Square Apartments
On March 19, 2014 at 9:39 a.m., Colorado Springs firefighters were dispatched to a reported structure fire at the Devonshire Square Apartments at 2770 E. Uintah. The first CSFD engine arrived within five minutes to find smoke coming from one apartment in the north wing of the complex.
CSFD responded to this three alarm fire call with a total of 17 apparatus and support units. Approximately 62 CSFD firefighters and support personnel were on scene. CSFD engaged in an aggressive interior fire attack on two apartments on the second floor, performed 8 ladder rescues from windows and assisted approximately 7 people out of the building.
Nine patients were treated for minor smoke inhalation, and three of them were transported to local hospitals. Approximately 100 residents were displaced from the north wing of the apartment building.
The CSFD estimates that $202,040 of direct exposure property/content was saved; the overall loss was $188,015 in property/content to the fire unit and adjacent units.
The fire is under investigation.
The building has been released back to the property management company. Tenants should contact the property management company for information regarding collecting personal property and time frames for re-occupancy.
