Northport firefighters rescued a man from a burning apartment building early Saturday morning.
Crews from Northport Fire Rescue were called to the two-story building at 2701 37th Street, just off McFarland Boulevard, at 12:54 a.m., said department spokesman Capt. Jason Norris.
The first firefighters on the scene noticed a man trapped by the flames in his doorway, he said. The man retreated back into his apartment, which was adjacent to the unit where the fire started.
Firefighters were able to force entry and take the man to safety while they extinguished the fire, Norris said.
The apartment was a total loss, he said, and several other apartments were seriously damaged. None of the residents or firefighters were injured. The cause is still under investigation, Norris said.
