ALEXANDER COUNTY, N.C. —

A woman was rescued Tuesday from her burning home in the Bethlehem area of Alexander County, according to firefighters.

The woman was rescued from the second story of her home. Heavy smoke was coming from her home at the time.

Firefighters and sheriff’s deputies went up to the second floor to rescue her and then came out a window and down a ladder.

The woman was flown to a hospital.
