Rescue in Bedford Heights, OH

BEDFORD HEIGHTS, Ohio – A firefighter injured his knee while he was pulling an elderly woman from a burning home on Sunset Drive in Bedford Heights around 9:25 p.m. Wednesday.

Bedford Heights Fire Captain said firefighters had to travel through the burning kitchen to rescue the woman from a back bedroom located on the first floor of the home.

She was transported to Bedford Hospital in stable condition.

The firefighter who dragged the woman out of the home was also treated at Bedford Hospital and released later in the night.

According to reports, the fire started in the kitchen and the home sustained extensive damage. The home is considered uninhabitable.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
