Firefighters in Pacifica were able to save a man who was screaming for help Tuesday night after he became stuck at the bottom of a cliff.

It appears the man did not fall down the cliff, but most likely became stuck at high tide.

Firefighters and police rescued the man at about 11 p.m. They pulled him up in a rescue basket at Esplanade and Avalon. The woman who called 911 said she was out on a walk in her neighborhood at about 9 p.m. When she stopped to watch the waves, that’s when she heard a man screaming for help. She got out her flashlight but couldn’t see anything, so she called 911.

Police and firefighters arrived to find the man on the side of the cliff. They were able to put him in the rescue basket and pulled him up to safety. Police said he was treated by medical personnel at the scene, but the extent of his injuries has not been released.
