MILWAUKEE (WTAQ) – Milwaukee firefighters revived a five-year-old boy, after he was unresponsive while being rescued from a house fire.
It happened at a two-story duplex on Milwaukee’s northwest side.
Flames were shooting from the lower floor when units arrived just after 6:30 p.m. Wednesday — and they were told that the youngster was trapped inside.
Assistant fire chief Dan Lipski said his officers found the child on the first floor in just minutes. The boy was hardly breathing at the time, and he had some burns.
After he was revived, rescuers took him to a hospital — and officials expect him to survive. A woman and 3 others in the home escaped without injury.
Investigators are still trying to figure out what caused the fire. It took about an hour-and-a-half for firefighters to get it under control.
