Man Rescued After Being Trapped in Grain Bin for 20 Hours
CLAYTON COUNTY, Iowa— Rescuers were able to free a man trapped in a grain bin for more nearly 20 hours over the weekend.
The Clayton County Sheriff’s Office says 33-year-old Rod Sylvester became trapped on Saturday. He was buried up to his neck and only had one arm free.
The Littleport Fire Department responded to the bin, on a farm on Elm Road south of Littleport, and was able to free him on Sunday.
Chief Deputy Mike Aschinger said he was very fortunate.
“Sylvester is a lucky man,” Aschinger said Monday.
After being rescued, Sylvester was taken to a hospital in Manchester, where he was treated and released.
