Emergency services rescued a man today from a holding tank at the City of Saskatoon Water Treatment Plant.

A contractor working at the facility tripped, injuring his leg. Plant manager Troy Lafreniere said the tank is normally filled with water but it’s empty because crews are sandblasting and painting it.

The Saskatoon Fire Department’s Technical Rescue Team lifted the worker six-meters in a rescue basket. The rescue took under 12 minutes.

The fire department said the man had undetermined injuries and was transported to hospital.
