Last night at about 9:30, South Daytona Fire and Port Orange Fire responded to a smoke in a structure call. Reporting party stated light smoke visible and smoke alarms starting to go off. South Daytona Fire arrived on scene to find heavy smoke coming out the front door. Conflicting reports were given on whether anybody was inside. Rescue 98 went in with an 1 3/4″ hosline and bypassed 2 out for possible victim. Victim was found by Rescue 98 and brought out to awaiting ems crews. Pt was initially in cardiac arrest however ems crews were able to bring him back.Pt is currently still alive and was transferred to a burn unit with possible 18% burns to face and arms.
