Oct. 02–VIRGINIA BEACH — Two people were rescued from an early Wednesday morning house fire in the 1900 block of Millbrook Court, a fire department spokesman said.
Firefighters were dispatched at about 1:40 a.m. to the two-story residence located near Holland Road in the Landstown Meadows subdivision, said Chief Mike Brakey, a spokesman for the Virginia Beach Fire Department.
Fire crews found heavy flames coming from the first and second floors of the home, Brackey said.
There were three people inside the home at the time of the fire. One person was able to get out on their own, while firefighters had to assist two others, Brackey said.
A woman was rescued from a bedroom in the back of the home. The woman was transported to the hospital for treatment, Brackey said. He said he was unsure of the woman’s condition. A second person was rescued from the second floor. It is unclear if that person was taken to the hospital.
The fire was brought under control shortly after 2 a.m., Brackey said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
