It happened at 11255 Tamiami Trail.
According to officials, fire units from the Punta Gorda Fire Department and Charlotte County Fire Rescue responded to a mobile home fire at 5:32 a.m.
When crews arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames billowing from the front of the home.
During a search of the back of the home, crews found a 62-year-old man unconscious. He was rescued from the home and sent to Tampa General Hospital with life threatening burns.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s office.

Curt teaches nationally to include; FDIC, Firehouse Expo, Firehouse World, Orlando Fire Conference, Atlanta Fire Conference, Bowling Green State University, and owns/operates the annual HROC, COBC, WOTF, CFT ODP on Pensacola Beach. He is a Florida Certified Fire Officer, Instructor, Inspector, Arson, and FLUSAR.
