PHOENIX (KSAZ) – Firefighters rescued three children from a home near 63rd Avenue and Campbell after it caught fire early Monday morning. Four more family members were transported to a hospital for injuries.
When firefighters arrived, four family members were outside of the home. They informed crews there were three more people inside and firefighters immediately ran in to look for them.
We’re told a 10-year-old girl was found inside; she was not breathing and didn’t have a pulse. She was taken to a hospital.
Officials say two adults, an 11-year-old boy and a 9-year-old boy, a 17-year-old girl and a 15-year-old girl were all taken to a hospital with critical injuries because of the amount of heat and smoke they encountered.
About 70 firefighters reportedly worked on the home.
The fire also spread to a house next door, displacing a family of five. They’re being helped by the American Red Cross.
Firefighters are investigating what caused the fire.
